Tournament FAQs

How does the fundraiser work?

All BIS students will participate in the Trojan Superhero Tournament in their existing grade level PE class or 6th grade Connections class by completing a series of superhero challenges for in class participation prize on Friday, October 7th.

Throughout the tournament, BIS family donors who donate will have their student(s) automatically entered into one of three weekly Trojan Superhero Tournament drawings for a chance to win one of our special raffle prizes (Gift card for Preston ice cream! or for a boba tea! or for a Deja Vu smoothie!). 

In addition, all 6th/7th/8th grade Advisory classes will be competing with other classes at their grade level to win one of three grand prizes (one for each grade)--a Trojan Superhero Tournament treat party during their advisory class. Winning classes will be determined based on highest donor participation, and then by $$ donations amount raised in the event of a tie.

Families and students will be able to track the tournament standings using our online leaderboard right here on the BIS PTA fundraising website page for the duration of the tournament.

Once you complete the form, you will be directed to Paypal to process your payment. You do not need a Paypal account to make a donation. If you have an account, it will prompt you to sign in, otherwise you will just enter the card number you choose to use. You may also donate by check or cash to the front office. Please make all checks payable to BIS PTA.

And remember: the earlier you donate, the better the odds are that your student(s) could win raffle prizes, and see their name featured on the BIS Instagram and in the BIS PTA school newsletter! 🤩

What does this money raised by the BIS PTA pay for?

Past examples of what BIS teachers have used their Flex Funds for include robotics kits, music software licenses, online practice flash cards, library program materials, and other valuable resources needed to help enhance our elective and enrichment programs. To be able to offer these resources again this year, we need to raise at least $50K for the PTA.

Note: the BIS PTA annual fundraiser is completely separate from the Burlingame Community Education Foundation (BCE) annual fund for our amazing TK-8 school district. We highly encourage all BIS families to also donate to the BCE annual fund to fund important district-wide funding our Burlingame School District students need.

How much should my family donate?

Our suggested donation this year is $150 per BIS student in your family. Some families can afford to donate more, some less towards our BIS Flex Funds. Every donation is meaningful and appreciated. Each donation also counts towards participation and total amount raised for your student’s class competing for the grand prize for each grade: a Trojan Superhero Tournament party for their entire Advisory class!

Volunteering is usually a nights and weekends affair for us, so please be patient with the timeliness of our responses. 🙏
